How Good Are You at Making Tough Business Decisions?

Real business owners make the tough decisions every single day, do you? Let’s stick around and talk about that.

Hey there. I’m Patricia Sweeney, CEO and founder of Ideally Media. The one thing that I find truly inspiring is the fact that entrepreneurs are inherently risk takers, right. We have to make decisions on a daily basis about what are we going to do, what are we going to focus on, where’s our energy going, what is next for us in life and business. Those are for us to make, right? Nobody else is sitting around, telling us the answers to those questions. We not only have to ask those questions, but we also have to make a decision, we have to choose.

Steer Clear of Indecision

The worst thing that you can do for your business and for your life is to sit in indecision because even if you make the wrong decision, right, hindsight’s always 20/20. But even on the other end of that, at least you have more information than what you have now about whatever it is that you’re floundering on about what should you do. If you stay in that space, nothing happens.

This is why I say real business owners make the tough decisions. I get it, the bigger your team is, the harder it is because now you’re making more important and more important decisions with less and less information. So, the quality of information that you get continues to need to be higher level. It’s hard to create that in an organization if you don’t have business process automation on the backend. You don’t know how to forecast. Your CFO will be in the dark if you don’t have some marketing automation in place in order to say, “Hey, this is what’s coming up. Here’s my projection for next month. Here’s what my recurring billing looks like. Here’s how many leads we’ve been getting. Look, we’re on the trend of up or down.” You have to know that information.

Solopreneur?  Forecasting is vital

If you’re a solopreneur and you’re not even looking at that stuff yet, well, it’s time to start thinking about it. If you’re someone who has a small team and maybe you’re not getting the information that you need or you’ve got kind of haphazard processes around certain things that the team is doing, but you don’t have insight, you can’t log in and look at like a dashboard style campaign and say, “Oh, this is where that program’s fulfillment is. Oh look, there’s eight people who just paid me X, Y, Z three weeks ago, and they should have been done with this program in a week, but they’re only on week one,” right? Oh no, right? You better like talk to those people. You’ve got to figure it out. If you don’t know that that’s the case, what are you supposed to do?
